God Mars is the central character of the 1981 mecha anime series of the same name.
His birth name is Takeru Myojin, and he was sent to Earth from Mars as a baby, encased in a protective sphere. He possesses immense psychic abilities, which are suppressed by the presence of six robots – GodMars, Gaia, Sphinx, Titan, Uranus, and Shin.
These robots combine to form the giant robot God Mars, which Takeru controls mentally. The robots were intended to detonate and destroy Earth upon Takeru's death, a contingency plan by his father, the Martian emperor.
Throughout the series, Takeru struggles with his Martian origins, his loyalty to Earth, and the potential for his very existence to cause global destruction. He fights against his own people, who seek to conquer Earth, and strives to control his powers for the sake of peace.
