Dastan is the protagonist of the 2010 film, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, a film adaptation of the popular video game franchise. He is portrayed by actor Jake Gyllenhaal.
Dastan is an orphaned street urchin adopted into the royal Persian family by King Sharaman after demonstrating exceptional bravery and loyalty. He possesses considerable agility and fighting skills honed from his early life.
He is initially suspected of assassinating his adopted father, King Sharaman, and goes on the run with Princess Tamina of Alamut to clear his name and prevent the powerful Dagger of Time from falling into the wrong hands. The Dagger, when used with special Sands, can reverse time.
