Xiahou Dun, often styled Yuanrang, is a prominent military general who serves under Cao Cao during the late Eastern Han dynasty and Three Kingdoms period of China. He is a central figure in many historical dramas and films based on Luo Guanzhong's historical novel, *Romance of the Three Kingdoms*.
A cousin of Cao Cao, Xiahou Dun is fiercely loyal and a skilled warrior. He is distinguished by his unwavering bravery and his notable physical characteristic: losing his left eye in battle against Lü Bu. This event, often dramatized, becomes a significant part of his character lore, earning him nicknames like "One-Eyed Xiahou".
