Dr. Pamela Lillian Isley, better known as Poison Ivy, is a prominent Batman villain and antiheroine in DC Comics.
Initially a promising botany student, Isley was experimented on by her professor, Jason Woodrue (later known as the Floronic Man), who injected her with plant toxins. The experiments imbued her with plant-based powers, including a toxic touch, immunity to all toxins and poisons, and the ability to control plant life.
Driven by her desire to protect the botanical world from humanity's destructive tendencies, Poison Ivy often resorts to extreme measures. She views plants as superior life forms and seeks to re-establish a world dominated by them.
Her powers and motivations make her a formidable opponent for Batman, frequently using seductive pheromones and potent toxins to achieve her goals. Despite her villainous actions, Poison Ivy is sometimes portrayed as having sympathetic motives and even forms alliances with other Gotham City residents, most notably Harley Quinn.
Poison Ivy remains a complex and compelling character whose dedication to environmentalism puts her at odds with a world she sees as a threat.
