Emperor Palpatine, also known as Darth Sidious, is the primary antagonist of the Star Wars saga. Born on Naboo, he rose through the ranks of the Galactic Republic's Senate, ultimately becoming Supreme Chancellor.

Secretly a powerful Sith Lord, Palpatine orchestrated the Clone Wars, manipulating both the Republic and the Separatists to destabilize the galaxy. This conflict served as a pretext for him to seize emergency powers and transform the Republic into the Galactic Empire.

As Emperor, Palpatine ruled with an iron fist, suppressing dissent and enforcing his dark vision for the galaxy. He sought to eliminate the Jedi Order and dominate the Force through the Sith. He trained Darth Vader as his apprentice and enforcer.

Palpatine's ultimate goal was immortality and absolute power. He used his cunning and mastery of the dark side to manipulate events for decades, making him one of the most influential and evil figures in galactic history. He was ultimately defeated by his own apprentice, Darth Vader, at the Battle of Endor, though he returned in later years.
