Homer Jay Simpson is a fictional character and one of the main protagonists in the animated television series The Simpsons. He is the spouse of Marge Simpson and father of Bart, Lisa, and Maggie.

Homer works as a safety inspector at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, a job he frequently neglects. His incompetence and impulsive nature often cause accidents and chaos, both at work and in his personal life.

He is characterized by his low intelligence, laziness, and love of donuts, Duff Beer, and watching television. Despite his flaws, Homer is often portrayed as having a good heart and a deep love for his family, though his actions sometimes contradict this.

Voiced by Dan Castellaneta, Homer Simpson has become a cultural icon, known for his signature catchphrases like "D'oh!" and his general representation of the average, albeit exaggerated, American working-class man.
