Grand Admiral Thrawn, born Mitth'raw'nuruodo on the planet Csilla, was a brilliant Imperial strategist. A member of the Chiss Ascendancy, he was exiled for his unconventional, often preemptive, strategies that prioritized long-term stability over immediate gains.

Discovered by Imperial forces in the Unknown Regions, Thrawn's tactical genius quickly propelled him through the ranks. He was one of the few non-human officers to achieve the rank of Grand Admiral in the Galactic Empire.

Thrawn was known for his understanding of his enemies, particularly his ability to decipher their culture and art to predict their actions. He served under both Emperor Palpatine and later Grand Moff Ardus Kaine, proving a formidable threat to the New Republic.

While fiercely loyal to the Empire, Thrawn's ultimate goal was always the protection of his people, the Chiss. His complex motivations and strategic brilliance made him one of the most compelling and enduring villains in the Star Wars Expanded Universe (now Legends) and later brought into the new Canon.
