The Mirkwood Elf Guard, while unnamed in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, is a collective representation of the elven sentinels serving King Thranduil of Mirkwood. They are guardians of the perilous forest realm and its borders.

Their primary function is to patrol Mirkwood and capture trespassers. Most notably, they imprison Thorin Oakenshield's company of dwarves who stray from the path. The elves hold them captive in Thranduil's underground halls, though they are treated relatively well with food and drink, despite their confinement.
