Kid Marvelman, later known as Kid Miracleman, is a character created by Alan Moore and Garry Leach for Warrior magazine, published by Quality Communications. He's a dark and deconstructed take on the classic Captain Marvel/Shazam! archetype.
His alter ego is Johnny Bates, a young orphan. Through a specific word, the one used by the original Marvelman Family, he transforms into the super-powered Kid Marvelman. Unlike his youthful counterpart, Bates as Kid Marvelman is a sadistic and utterly amoral being. He revels in violence and destruction, showcasing a disturbing lack of empathy.
His introduction involves slaughtering his old school and ends with him causing widespread devastation in London, demonstrating his immense power and psychopathic tendencies.
