The Shadow Guards were elite warriors in service to Darth Sidious, operating primarily after the rise of the Galactic Empire. Little is explicitly known about their origins, but they were believed to be hand-picked from the ranks of existing Imperial forces and subjected to rigorous training.

Distinguished by their crimson armor reminiscent of the Emperor's Royal Guard, Shadow Guards possessed heightened Force abilities, though not to the same degree as trained Sith. They were skilled in combat, wielding lightsabers and Force pikes, acting as personal protectors and enforcers of Sidious's will.

Their missions often involved suppressing rebellions, hunting down rogue Jedi, and carrying out secret assignments too sensitive for regular Imperial troops. While shrouded in mystery, their presence signified the absolute authority and hidden power wielded by Emperor Palpatine.
