Mega Man, known as Rockman in Japan, is the titular protagonist of the long-running video game franchise created by Capcom. He debuted in 1987 on the Nintendo Entertainment System.
Originally created by Dr. Light as a lab assistant robot, Rock was repurposed as a combat robot to defend the world from the evil Dr. Wily and his rogue Robot Masters. He was given a powerful arm cannon, the Mega Buster, and the ability to absorb the weapons and abilities of defeated Robot Masters.
