Jawas are diminutive, hooded scavengers native to the desert planet of Tatooine in the Star Wars universe. Their faces are never seen; only glowing yellow eyes are visible beneath their coarse, brown robes.

They are primarily known for scouring the deserts for discarded technology and droids, which they repair (often poorly) and sell to moisture farmers and other inhabitants of Tatooine. Their language is a high-pitched, chattering dialect, often incomprehensible to other species, though they can understand Basic (English in the Star Wars universe).

Jawas travel in large, armored vehicles called sandcrawlers, which they use to transport their salvaged goods and provide shelter from the harsh desert environment. They are generally considered opportunistic and untrustworthy traders, though their knowledge of technology, albeit limited, can be valuable.

Culturally, Jawas are fiercely territorial and protective of their clans. While not inherently malicious, their focus on scavenging and profit-seeking often puts them at odds with others on Tatooine. They are a common sight across the wastes, instantly recognizable by their distinctive attire and vehicles.
