Baron Helmut Zemo is a prominent villain in Marvel Comics, often associated with Captain America and the Avengers. He's the son of Heinrich Zemo, a Nazi scientist and supervillain during World War II, inheriting his father's hatred for Captain America.

Helmut initially sought revenge for his father's death, eventually adopting the mantle of Baron Zemo. He is a master strategist and tactician, often leading teams of supervillains. A key element of his character is his mask, a disfiguring result of an accident with Adhesive X, preventing him from removing it.

Zemo is often motivated by a warped sense of order, believing that he can provide better leadership and stability than heroes. He has been the leader of various villainous groups, most notably the Masters of Evil and the Thunderbolts (initially posing as heroes). The Thunderbolts concept, where villains attempt to be heroes, remains a defining aspect of his comic book legacy. He is a formidable adversary known for his intelligence, ruthlessness, and manipulative nature.
