Biography:
Miguel Rivera is the protagonist of the 2017 Disney Pixar animated film, Coco. He is a twelve-year-old boy living in the fictional Santa Cecilia, Mexico.
Miguel dreams of becoming a musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz, a famous singer and actor. However, music has been banned in his family for generations due to a past betrayal by a musician ancestor.
Driven by his passion, Miguel secretly practices playing the guitar. On Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead), he steals Ernesto de la Cruz's guitar from his mausoleum. This act inadvertently transports him to the Land of the Dead.
In the Land of the Dead, Miguel seeks Ernesto de la Cruz's blessing to return home and pursue his musical dreams. He teams up with a trickster skeleton named Héctor to find Ernesto. Throughout his journey, Miguel learns about his family history and the importance of family and remembering loved ones.
