Galactus is a cosmic entity from Marvel Comics, existing long before the current universe. Born as Galan on the dying planet Taa in a previous cosmos, he merged with the sentient energy of the Big Bang during the universe's rebirth.

This transformation imbued him with immense power but also a ceaseless hunger. To sustain himself, Galactus consumes the energy of planets. He doesn't do this out of malice, but out of necessity.

Often depicted as a colossal, armored figure, Galactus travels the cosmos seeking suitable worlds to devour. He employs Heralds, like the Silver Surfer, to locate these planets, often leading to conflict with Earth's heroes.

Despite his destructive actions, Galactus is considered a fundamental force of the universe, a cosmic necessity. His existence, though terrifying, is believed to be crucial to maintaining the balance of reality.
