Batwoman is a DC Comics superheroine operating in Gotham City, created by Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka, Mark Waid and Ken Lashley. There have been several iterations of the character, but Katherine "Kate" Kane is the most prominent.
Kate Kane is a wealthy heiress and highly skilled martial artist who was discharged from West Point after being exposed as a lesbian under "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policies. Inspired by Batman, she dedicates her life to fighting crime in Gotham.
