Biography:

Barristan Selmy, often called "Barristan the Bold," is a prominent character first appearing in the *Game of Thrones* episode "Winter Is Coming" (2011).

He served as a legendary knight of the Kingsguard, initially for King Aerys II Targaryen. He was later pardoned and appointed Lord Commander of the Kingsguard by King Robert Baratheon after Aerys was overthrown.

Barristan was honorably discharged from the Kingsguard by King Joffrey Baratheon, after which he served Daenerys Targaryen as her chief military advisor and Lord Commander of her Queensguard. A wise and valiant warrior, he was deeply respected for his unwavering loyalty and combat skills.
