Michael Jon Carter, known as Booster Gold, is a DC Comics superhero who originated in the 25th century. Once a star athlete and security guard, Carter was disgraced after being caught gambling on his own games.

Seeing an opportunity for a fresh start, he stole historical artifacts and a time machine from the Metropolis Space Museum. These items included a Legion Flight Ring and a force field belt, both critical to his early crime fighting.

Arriving in late 20th-century Metropolis, Carter used his advanced knowledge of future events and technology to stage heroic acts, seeking fame and fortune as "Booster Gold." Initially motivated by self-interest, he gradually developed a genuine desire to protect people and became a true hero.

Though often portrayed as boastful and somewhat incompetent, Booster Gold is a skilled strategist and possesses surprising depths. His friendship with Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) is a defining aspect of his character. He often uses charm and wit to get what he wants, which can sometimes get him into trouble.
