Ghost, also known as Ava Starr, is a character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), first appearing in the film Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018).
Ava is the daughter of Elihas Starr, a former partner of Hank Pym. During an experiment conducted by her father, a quantum explosion granted her the ability to become intangible and phase through solid objects. However, this accident also left her with "quantum instability," a condition that causes her to experience debilitating pain and slowly lose control of her molecules.
Trained as a covert operative by S.H.I.E.L.D., Ava was exploited by Bill Foster to develop a means of stabilizing her condition using quantum energy. Her phasing abilities were used for espionage and assassination, turning her into a formidable and ruthless agent.
Driven by the desperate need to survive, Ghost seeks to absorb quantum energy from Janet van Dyne to cure her condition, bringing her into conflict with Ant-Man and the Wasp. Ultimately, after a partial stabilization from Janet, her fate is left ambiguous at the end of the film.
