Frodo Baggins is the primary protagonist of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic fantasy novel, The Lord of the Rings. He is a Hobbit from the Shire, specifically a well-to-do member of Hobbit society.

Born September 22, Third Age 2980, Frodo was orphaned at a young age. He was adopted by his cousin, Bilbo Baggins, at Bag End. Bilbo's mysterious disappearance and subsequent return with the One Ring profoundly impacted Frodo's life.

Upon Bilbo's departure from the Shire, Frodo inherited Bag End and, crucially, the One Ring. Recognizing the Ring's immense power and danger, Frodo, guided by the wizard Gandalf, embarks on a perilous quest to destroy it in the fires of Mount Doom in Mordor.

Frodo's journey is marked by hardship and temptation, testing his resilience and moral fortitude. He is accompanied by a Fellowship of diverse companions, though his ultimate burden falls primarily on him and his loyal gardener, Samwise Gamgee.
