Hiei is a prominent character from the anime series Yu Yu Hakusho, created by Yoshihiro Togashi. He is a powerful and complex demon, initially introduced as an antagonist but later becomes a key ally to the protagonist, Yusuke Urameshi.

Born to an ice maiden in the Glacial Village, Hiei was cast out as a baby due to being a male fire demon, deemed an ill omen. He survived by developing formidable skills as a master swordsman and harnessing his demonic abilities.

Hiei sought to increase his power, implanting the Jagan Eye, a third eye, into his forehead. This granted him enhanced vision and various psychic abilities but at a significant cost to his physical body. His most notable technique is the Dragon of the Darkness Flame, a powerful but dangerous attack.

Initially cold and ruthless, Hiei gradually develops a sense of camaraderie with Yusuke and his companions, although he rarely displays his emotions openly. He remains fiercely independent and driven, constantly striving to become stronger. A notable motivator for his actions is his search for his twin sister, Yukina.
