Ralph Dibny, known as the Elongated Man, is a DC Comics superhero distinguished by his extraordinary ability to stretch his body to incredible lengths and shapes. Unlike many stretching heroes whose powers are mystical or accidental, Ralph's abilities stem from a rare mutagen he ingests called Gingold. He is a brilliant detective, often using his stretching abilities to solve crimes.

Born in Decoding, Nebraska, Ralph developed an early fascination with contortionists and learned that they consumed a soda called Gingold. Through years of research, he discovered that Gingold extract contained a rare compound found only in the fictional fruit, "Gingold," granting elasticity to those with a specific genetic makeup. He synthesized a concentrated version and became the Elongated Man.

Ralph is often depicted as a jovial and optimistic character. He is married to Sue Dibny, whom he met during his travels as a detective, and their love is a defining aspect of his story. The Dibnys frequently work together on cases, adding a unique dynamic to the world of superheroes.
