Biography:
James "Rhodey" Rhodes, portrayed by Don Cheadle in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), is a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force and a close friend and confidant of Tony Stark. He first appeared in Iron Man (2008) played by Terrence Howard. Rhodey is initially skeptical but supportive of Tony's activities as Iron Man.
Following the events of Iron Man 2, Rhodey gains possession of a heavily armed and armored Iron Man suit, which he christens "War Machine." He operates as War Machine Mk II, a designated Avenger, working alongside Iron Man and other heroes to combat global threats.
Rhodey is a skilled pilot and tactician, providing a grounded military perspective to the Avengers. His role evolved into a liaison between the Avengers and the U.S. government.
Throughout the Infinity Saga, War Machine participates in major battles, including the defense of Earth against Thanos. He is injured during the battle with Thanos, requiring the use of leg braces.
