Biography:
Abe Sapien, also known as Abraham Sapien, is a prominent character from the Hellboy comic book series published by Dark Horse Comics. His first appearance was in *Hellboy: Seed of Destruction* #1 in 1994.
Abe is an amphibious humanoid discovered in a tank of water in the basement of St. Trinian's Hospital in Washington D.C. in 1879. A note attached to the tank labeled him "Ichthyo Sapien," hence his name.
Abe possesses knowledge of ancient languages and forgotten lore. He joined the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (BPRD) where he became a valuable field agent. He has a strong sense of justice, courage, and loyalty.
