Remus John Lupin was a half-blood wizard born on March 10, 1960, to Lyall Lupin and Hope Howell. He was a close friend of James Potter, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew during their time at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Lupin was bitten by the werewolf Fenrir Greyback as a child, resulting in his lycanthropy. He kept his condition a secret for many years, managing it with the support of Albus Dumbledore, who provided him with the Wolfsbane Potion during his tenure as a student.
He was a member of the Order of the Phoenix during the First Wizarding War. Later, Lupin served as the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts during Harry Potter's third year. He was considered an excellent teacher but was forced to resign when his lycanthropy was publicly revealed.
Lupin rejoined the Order of the Phoenix during the Second Wizarding War, fighting against Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters. He married Nymphadora Tonks and they had a son, Teddy Lupin. Remus Lupin died during the Battle of Hogwarts, killed by Antonin Dolohov.
