Gordon Freeman, Ph.D., is the protagonist of the Half-Life series of video games developed by Valve Corporation. He is a theoretical physicist who finds himself battling an alien invasion following a disastrous experiment at the Black Mesa Research Facility.

Prior to the incident, Freeman graduated from MIT with a doctorate in theoretical physics. His early career was unremarkable, but he eventually took a position at Black Mesa, motivated by the prospect of applied research.

Following the Resonance Cascade, Freeman becomes a reluctant hero, fighting to survive and ultimately thwart the invading alien forces. He is known for his signature HEV Suit, a protective garment equipped with advanced capabilities, and his iconic crowbar weapon.

Throughout the series, Freeman remains a mostly silent protagonist, allowing the player to project themselves into the role. He is characterized by his resourcefulness, determination, and scientific expertise, making him a compelling and iconic figure in gaming history.
