Riot is a fictional supervillain appearing in Marvel Comics, primarily associated with Spider-Man and Venom. He is a symbiote, one of the five "children" spawned from the Venom symbiote.
He was created by writer David Michelinie and artist Ron Lim, first appearing in Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety in 1993. Riot is typically depicted as a dark purple or grey symbiote, often larger and more muscular than Venom.
Like his "siblings," Riot was bonded to a member of the Life Foundation, a group seeking to create a society after a presumed nuclear holocaust. He was bonded to Trevor Cole, a mercenary. Together, they possess superhuman strength, speed, agility, and durability, along with the typical symbiote abilities of shapeshifting and creating weapons.
