Biography:
Captain Jack Harkness, a character initially introduced in the 2005 series of Doctor Who, is a time-traveling con man and former Time Agent from the 51st century. Played by John Barrowman, Jack is charismatic, flirtatious, and possesses a strong sense of morality despite his morally ambiguous past.
He becomes a companion to the Ninth and Tenth Doctors, played by Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant respectively, aiding them in their adventures across time and space. During one such adventure, Jack is killed by the Daleks but is resurrected by Rose Tyler, who has absorbed the power of the Time Vortex. This exposure renders him immortal, unable to die permanently.
Following his departure from the Doctor, Jack returns to Earth and becomes the leader of Torchwood Three, a Cardiff-based organization dedicated to defending the planet from extraterrestrial threats. His immortality and experiences with the Doctor shape his leadership and approach to the dangers he faces.
The character's popularity led to the spin-off series Torchwood, which explores Jack's adventures and darker side in more detail, focusing on adult themes and complex moral dilemmas.
