The Xenomorph Queen is a key figure in the Alien film franchise, serving as the matriarch and primary reproductive source for the Xenomorph species. Larger and more intelligent than the Drone or Warrior caste, she possesses a massive ovipositor, or egg sac, from which she lays Xenomorph eggs (Ovomorphs).
First appearing in Aliens (1986), the Queen defends her hive with ferocious strength and cunning. She is typically depicted with a large cranial crest, multiple limbs (including smaller arms emerging from her chest), and a powerful tail.
The Queen’s presence drastically alters the Xenomorph life cycle, transforming the species from isolated predators into a structured, colonial society. Her removal or death leads to the collapse of the hive. Variants of the Queen have appeared in subsequent films and expanded media, each maintaining the core characteristics of ruthless intelligence and maternal protectiveness.
