Hanzo Shimada is a damage hero in the Overwatch universe, originating from the renowned Shimada clan, a family of assassins and criminals. He is the elder son of Sojiro Shimada, the clan's former head.

Raised from a young age to inherit and lead the Shimada empire, Hanzo excelled in archery, swordsmanship, and martial arts. He was expected to rule with an iron fist, but possessed conflicted feelings about the clan's activities.

Tragedy struck when his father died, and Hanzo was tasked with reigning in his rebellious younger brother, Genji. Their confrontation resulted in a fierce battle, leaving Hanzo believing he had killed Genji. Haunted by guilt, he abandoned the clan.

Now a wandering mercenary, Hanzo strives to atone for his past actions, honing his skills as an archer and seeking a path to redemption. His signature weapon is the Storm Bow, capable of firing powerful arrows with pinpoint accuracy and unleashing devastating dragon strikes.
