Biography:
Farrokh Bulsara, known professionally as Freddie Mercury, was a British singer, songwriter, record producer, and lead vocalist of the rock band Queen. Born in Stone Town, Zanzibar, in 1946, Mercury's family later moved to Middlesex, England.
Mercury wrote and composed many of Queen's biggest hits, including "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Somebody to Love," "We Are the Champions," and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love." His dynamic stage performances and powerful vocals earned him worldwide acclaim and are still celebrated today.
Beyond Queen, Mercury released two solo albums, Mr. Bad Guy and Barcelona, the latter in collaboration with opera singer Montserrat Caballé. His work with Caballé showcased his operatic range and cross-genre musical aspirations.
Mercury died on November 24, 1991, from bronchopneumonia as a complication of AIDS, a day after publicly announcing he had the disease. He remains one of the most influential and beloved performers in rock music history, remembered for his unparalleled artistry and flamboyant personality.
