Godspeed, also known as August Heart, is a DC Comics character who debuted in The Flash: Rebirth #1 in 2016. He is a speedster, possessing similar powers to the Flash.
Prior to becoming Godspeed, August Heart was a detective and Barry Allen's friend and colleague in the Central City Police Department. After gaining speed powers during a Speed Force storm, he partnered with the Flash to fight crime.
However, August's methods diverged significantly from the Flash's. He believed in lethal force against criminals, especially those with speedster abilities, leading to a moral conflict. August took the name Godspeed and began killing other speedsters, absorbing their Speed Force energy to increase his own power. He initially framed Barry Allen for these murders.
Godspeed is depicted as a complex character driven by a desire for justice, albeit through extreme and often morally questionable means. His relationship with the Flash is defined by both their past friendship and their conflicting ideologies, making him a compelling antagonist.
