Phage is a Marvel Comics supervillain, a member of the Life Foundation symbiote team. These symbiotes were spawned from Venom.
Phage's original host was Carl Mach, a mercenary. Like the other Life Foundation symbiotes, Phage was created when the Life Foundation extracted symbiote samples from Venom to create superhuman guardians to protect their utopian society. That society ultimately failed.
Phage possesses the same basic abilities as Venom, including superhuman strength, agility, and the ability to generate webbing. He's distinguished by his yellow-orange color and his aggressive, volatile personality. Phage is a brutal and dangerous adversary.
Over the years, Phage has been involved in various conflicts, often clashing with Venom, Spider-Man, and other heroes. The symbiote has sometimes been merged with other symbiotes in the team, becoming part of composite entities like Hybrid and later merged into one symbiote called Lasher in King in Black, where they were all killed.
