Biography:
Sylvester is an animated cartoon character, best known for his appearances in the Warner Bros. Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series. He is a tuxedo cat perpetually driven to catch and eat Tweety Bird, a small yellow canary.
Sylvester's character traits include a persistent lisp, a tendency to salivate excessively at the sight of potential prey, and a determined, though often clumsy, pursuit of his goals. His schemes invariably backfire, usually resulting in self-inflicted injuries and humiliation.
Created by Friz Freleng, Sylvester debuted in the 1945 short film "Life with Feathers." While frequently paired with Tweety, he has also appeared in cartoons alongside other Warner Bros. characters, notably Speedy Gonzales and Porky Pig.
Voice actors who have portrayed Sylvester include Mel Blanc, Joe Alaskey, and Jeff Bergman. Sylvester remains a popular and recognizable cartoon figure, his catchphrase "Sufferin' succotash!" instantly identifiable.
