Demogorgon is a central antagonist in the Netflix science fiction horror series, Stranger Things. He is a predatory creature originating from the alternate dimension known as the Upside Down.
The Demogorgon first appears in Season 1, emerging into Hawkins, Indiana, through interdimensional portals. He hunts and terrorizes residents, most notably Will Byers, whom he abducts and traps in the Upside Down.
Described as humanoid but monstrous, the Demogorgon is tall and slender with elongated limbs. His most striking feature is his head, which opens like a flower to reveal a tooth-filled, petal-like structure. He lacks discernible facial features like eyes or a nose.
The Demogorgon possesses immense strength, heightened senses, and the ability to phase between dimensions. He is drawn to blood and fear, making him a formidable and terrifying foe. While seemingly a lone predator, later seasons imply a hive-mind connection to the Mind Flayer.
Eleven, a girl with psychokinetic abilities, is initially the primary weapon against the Demogorgon. Her connection to the Upside Down, and her powers, enable her to engage and ultimately defeat it, though at great personal cost.
