Sylvanas Windrunner, originally a high elf ranger-general of Silvermoon, served as its protector during the Second War against the orcish Horde. Known for her strategic brilliance and unwavering resolve, she was a formidable defender of Quel'Thalas.

During the Third War, Prince Arthas Menethil, corrupted by the Lich King, invaded Quel'Thalas. Sylvanas fought valiantly, but was ultimately defeated and brutally murdered by Arthas. He then resurrected her as a banshee, a powerful undead being enslaved to his will.

After regaining her free will, Sylvanas sought vengeance against Arthas and founded the Forsaken, a faction of undead who, like her, had broken free from the Lich King's control. She became their queen, the Banshee Queen, leading them to establish a home in the ruins of Lordaeron.

Over time, Sylvanas's actions became increasingly ruthless and morally questionable, driven by her fear of oblivion and a desire to secure the future of the Forsaken. She eventually became Warchief of the Horde, a position she later abandoned, leading to her final fate.
