Biography:
Gunner Zombie is a minor but memorable character from the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise. He is a member of Captain Hector Barbossa's cursed pirate crew aboard the Black Pearl.
As his name suggests, Gunner Zombie is undead, a consequence of stealing Cortez's cursed Aztec gold. He, along with the rest of Barbossa's crew, is initially depicted as skeletal in moonlight, transforming back to a more human appearance in the shadows.
Gunner Zombie's primary role is as a gunner, operating the cannons on the Black Pearl. He is seen participating in various battles and skirmishes throughout the first film, The Curse of the Black Pearl.
Like the rest of the crew, Gunner Zombie is freed from the curse when Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann restore the final piece of gold to the chest, returning him to a mortal state.
