M.O.D.O.K. (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing) began as George Tarleton, a technician working for Advanced Idea Mechanics (A.I.M.). He was subjected to a mutagenic process intended to enhance his intelligence for research into the Cosmic Cube.
The experiment succeeded, granting Tarleton genius-level intellect and psychic powers. However, it also drastically altered his physical form, enlarging his head to monstrous proportions and rendering his body immobile without specialized technology. The immense head rests on a mobile platform equipped with weaponry and life support.
No longer George Tarleton, M.O.D.O.K. quickly seized control of A.I.M., murdering his superiors. He has since become a recurring foe of numerous Marvel heroes, including Captain America, Iron Man, and the Avengers. He uses his intellect and psionic abilities to pursue world domination and further A.I.M.'s nefarious goals.
M.O.D.O.K.'s defining characteristics are his immense intellect, psionic powers, grotesque appearance, and ruthlessly ambitious nature. He remains a significant threat despite his physical limitations, constantly devising elaborate schemes to achieve his aims.
