Geralt of Rivia, the protagonist of CD Projekt Red's The Witcher game series, is a monster hunter known as a "witcher." He roams the Continent, a fictional landmass inspired by Slavic folklore, offering his services to those plagued by dangerous beasts.

Trained from a young age at Kaer Morhen, a witcher stronghold, Geralt underwent rigorous physical and magical trials, including the Trial of the Grasses, which granted him superhuman abilities, enhanced senses, and significantly prolonged lifespan. This process also rendered him sterile.

Geralt adheres to a witcher's code, remaining largely neutral in political conflicts. He uses his knowledge of monsters, combined with swordsmanship, alchemy, and rudimentary magic ("Signs"), to hunt and kill them. He carries two swords: one of steel for humans and beasts, and one of silver for magical creatures.

His personal life is intertwined with powerful figures like Yennefer of Vengerberg, a sorceress with whom he shares a turbulent romantic relationship, and Ciri, a princess he considers his adopted daughter. These relationships heavily influence the narrative and Geralt's decisions throughout the game series.
