Luigi is a fictional character featured in Nintendo's Mario franchise. Created by designer Shigeru Miyamoto, he is the younger twin brother of Mario and serves as his sidekick in many games.

Often depicted as taller and thinner than Mario, Luigi is characterized by his green color scheme, contrasting with Mario's red. He is generally portrayed as timid and somewhat clumsy, yet capable of great bravery when necessary, especially when rescuing his brother or other friends.

Luigi's debut came in the 1983 arcade game Mario Bros. He has since appeared in countless Mario games, often in a supporting role. He has also starred in his own series, most notably the Luigi's Mansion games, where he overcomes his fears to battle ghosts.

Despite initially being a palette swap of Mario, Luigi has evolved into a distinct and beloved character with his own personality and fan base. He remains a cornerstone of the Mario universe and a recognizable figure in video game history.
