Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Master Splinter, the sensei and adoptive father of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, is a prominent figure in the TMNT franchise. He is typically depicted as an anthropomorphic rat, mutated from either a human or a pet rat who came into contact with the same mutagen that transformed the turtles.

In most iterations, Splinter's origin is tied to Hamato Yoshi, a skilled martial artist. Depending on the version, Splinter is either the mutated Yoshi himself or Yoshi's pet rat who learned ninjutsu by mimicking his master's movements. After exposure to the mutagen, he takes refuge in the sewers of New York City, where he discovers the four infant turtles.

Raising the turtles as his own, Splinter trains them in the art of ninjutsu, imparting both physical skills and a strong moral code. He guides them in their battles against evil, offering wisdom and strategic advice. Patient and disciplined, Splinter serves as the Turtles' moral compass and protector, emphasizing the importance of honor, family, and responsibility.
