Romance of the Three Kingdoms

Lu Meng was a prominent general serving under the warlord Sun Quan during the late Eastern Han dynasty and the Three Kingdoms period of Chinese history. Initially known for his lack of scholarly pursuits, Sun Quan encouraged him to dedicate himself to learning and strategy. He rose through the ranks through military achievements, demonstrating bravery and strategic acumen in various campaigns.

His most famous accomplishment was the conquest of Jing Province from Guan Yu, a pivotal moment that shifted the balance of power. Lu Meng feigned illness to return from the front lines, lulling Guan Yu into a false sense of security. He then launched a surprise attack, capturing key territories and ultimately leading to Guan Yu's defeat and death.

Despite his success, Lu Meng died shortly after the capture of Jing Province. Some accounts attribute his death to a curse from Guan Yu, while others suggest natural causes or overwork. Regardless, Lu Meng's transformation from an unschooled warrior to a respected strategist and his role in the capture of Jing Province secured his place as a significant figure in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
