Doris Freedman, commonly referred to as Lunchlady Doris, is a recurring character on the animated television series, The Simpsons. She is primarily known for being the somewhat apathetic and unhygienic cook and lunch server at Springfield Elementary School.
Voiced primarily by Doris Grau until her death in 1995, and then by Tress MacNeille, Lunchlady Doris prepares and serves the school's often questionable and unappetizing meals. Her dishes frequently involve mystery meat and outdated ingredients. Her general demeanor is weary and unimpressed.
Beyond her culinary duties, Doris has held a variety of other positions at Springfield Elementary, including school nurse (Nurse Doris), and occasionally, school bus driver.
