Vitalstatistix is the chief of the Gaulish village in the Asterix comic book series. He is portrayed as a proud and imposing figure, respected by his villagers despite his reliance on being carried on a shield due to his age and physical stature. He considers himself a capable leader, though his decisions are sometimes influenced by his wife, Impedimenta.

He leads his village in their persistent resistance against the Roman Empire, a task made easier by the magic potion brewed by their druid, Getafix. Vitalstatistix often declares his intent to maintain the Gaulish way of life and independence, though his own understanding of global politics and Roman strategy is sometimes limited.

Despite his bluster, Vitalstatistix is generally well-meaning and cares deeply for his people. He is fiercely protective of their traditions and freedoms, and willing to defend them against any threat, Roman or otherwise. He is known for his grand speeches, often delivered from atop his shield, and his unwavering determination to remain defiant against Caesar.
