Taz, or the Tasmanian Devil, is a cartoon character featured in the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series of animated shorts from Warner Bros. Entertainment.
Created by Robert McKimson, Taz debuted in the 1954 short "Devil May Care." His defining characteristics include a ferocious appetite, short temper, and near-constant spinning motion that resembles a miniature tornado. This spin is often accompanied by a loud growl and the destruction of anything in his path.
Originally intended for only a few appearances, Taz's popularity quickly grew. He became a recurring character alongside Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and other Looney Tunes stars. He starred in his own animated series, Taz-Mania, from 1991 to 1995, further solidifying his place in popular culture. Taz continues to be a recognizable and beloved cartoon figure, appearing in new Looney Tunes content and merchandise.
