Hyuga Neji was a prodigious shinobi from the Hidden Leaf Village in the anime and manga series Naruto. Born into the Hyuga clan's Branch House, Neji was marked with the Caged Bird Seal, a symbol of his subordinate status to the Main House.

Initially, Neji harbored deep resentment towards the Main House, believing his father was sacrificed to protect them. This fueled his belief in predetermined fate and that one cannot overcome their destiny. His exceptional talent and mastery of the Byakugan, a powerful visual jutsu granting near 360-degree vision, made him a formidable opponent.

During the Chunin Exams, Neji's battle with Naruto Uzumaki proved pivotal. Naruto's unwavering determination and ability to defy expectations challenged Neji's rigid worldview. Through this encounter, Neji began to question his beliefs and started down a path of self-improvement.

Neji dedicated himself to protecting his comrades and honing his skills, ultimately overcoming his past grievances. He died during the Fourth Shinobi World War, sacrificing himself to protect Naruto and Hinata Hyuga, finally breaking free from the constraints of fate and choosing his own destiny.
