D-O, pronounced "Dee-Oh," is a small, one-wheeled droid first appearing in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
He was originally owned by the Sith Eternal technician, Ochi of Bestoon. Ochi used D-O to navigate through the Unknown Regions while searching for Exegol. D-O's programming held crucial information regarding the Sith and their hidden world, Exegol.
Following Ochi's death on Pasaana, D-O was left dormant in the wreckage of Ochi's ship. He was later discovered by BB-8 and brought into the care of Rey and the Resistance.
Initially shy and timid, D-O gradually overcame his anxieties and became a valuable member of the Resistance due to the information he possessed about the Sith fleet. He ultimately played a crucial role in helping the Resistance find and defeat the Final Order.
D-O has limited vocabulary, but his childlike personality endeared him to many, highlighting themes of friendship, overcoming fear, and finding belonging.
