Grogu, often referred to as "Baby Yoda" by fans prior to his name reveal, is a Force-sensitive character introduced in the Disney+ series The Mandalorian. His species is the same as Grand Master Yoda and Yaddle, although details about their biology and homeworld remain largely unknown.

Grogu was born around 41 BBY, placing him at approximately 50 years old during the events of The Mandalorian. He spent his early life at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, where he received training in the Force. He was rescued from the Temple during the Great Jedi Purge and hidden.

The Mandalorian follows Din Djarin, a Mandalorian bounty hunter, who is initially tasked with delivering Grogu to the remnants of the Empire. However, Djarin chooses to protect Grogu, becoming his adoptive father and seeking to reunite him with his own kind, eventually leading Grogu to Luke Skywalker for further Jedi training. After a period of training, Grogu chose to return to Din Djarin.

Grogu exhibits a strong connection to the Force, capable of telekinesis, healing, and other abilities. He is a prominent figure in the expansion of the Star Wars universe and a fan favorite for his endearing nature and mysterious background.
