Martian Manhunter, whose real name is J'onn J'onzz, is a fictional superhero appearing in DC Comics. He hails from the planet Mars, specifically from a now-extinct Martian civilization.

J'onn J'onzz was accidentally teleported to Earth by scientist Dr. Saul Erdel. The shock of his arrival, coupled with J'onn's Martian physiology, caused Erdel's death, leaving J'onn stranded on Earth.

Possessing a wide array of powers including telepathy, telekinesis, shapeshifting, flight, super strength, super speed, and Martian vision (heat vision), J'onn adopted the identity of John Jones, a detective, to integrate into human society.

He is a founding member of the Justice League and is often considered the heart and soul of the team. J'onn serves as a powerful and compassionate protector of Earth, carrying the burden of his lost civilization.
