Tanooki Mario is an iconic form Mario takes in the Super Mario series. He debuted in Super Mario Bros. 3, gaining the ability to transform into a statue and briefly fly.

This transformation is granted by the Super Leaf, which resembles a raccoon tail. When Mario collects the Super Leaf, he gains raccoon ears and a tail, becoming Raccoon Mario.

By pressing down and the jump button, Raccoon Mario transforms into Tanooki Mario, sporting a tanooki suit. This form provides additional abilities, most notably turning into an invincible stone statue for a short period. This invincibility offers protection from enemies and hazards.
